Genesis 6-10

Noah and the flood-  I understand God's desire to wipe out the corruption on Earth and start fresh.  He thought that if he started again with people who were good in times of bad that the world would be a better place.  But it didn't work.  Evil will always exist on earth and God realized his mistake.  Crazy that it was a world-wide genocide. I'm not sure how I feel about this.

You're right, I had a poorly worded comment above.  I agree with your comments.  I guess what I was thinking was that God didn't make a mistake by doing what he did because I too agree that he always has a plan.  However, he found that it didn't work or have the immediate effect that he desired at that point (and maybe he didn't desire it).  What I do think it accomplished was to show all people and generations to come that he can and will wipe out the human race if he thinks that it is best. He saved the believers and that is the real lesson of Noah and the Flood.

  1. Just wanted to discuss the phrase "God realized his mistake", not that I want to pick apart what you write so please don't think that is my goal, I just think its so important to know who God is and his character. I believe God makes no mistakes or is perfect(Psalms 18:30; Matthew 5:48), defining perfect as without blemish or blame. In regards to the flood I think God was seeking out people who were following after him and he found Noah and that was it. Of course Noah was not perfect and neither was his family free from evil but they were righteous in their desires by God's grace. The unfortunate thing about our sin nature is that we will never be completely freed from sin on this Earth. The Bible says our old nature will battle and war with our new nature (received at salvation - Holy Spirit). Something else that is interesting about the Bible and all that God has done/ will do is that we don't always understand the full meaning of His actions but we can know He had/has a purpose that is only for good of those who love Him and are called according to his purpose (Rom 8:28) Please let me know if I raise any questions or further thoughts. Keep reading and seeking!!
